On Friday 1st February, LWE’s first event of 2019 takes place at Shoreditch’s dance culture hub Village Underground.

As we look ahead to bringing to the capital many of the finest names in house and techno throughout the year, for this event we focus on our homegrown talent alongside some very special guests.

Dense & Pika have been part of the LWE family for many years now, consistently destroying our flagship events including Junction 2 and Drumcode at Tobacco Dock. For this event they take center-stage and exude the heads down sound they are known worldwide for.

With the exposed brickwork and warehouse vibes of Village Underground representing the perfect setting for this all-night session, here we look at five reasons why this night featuring Dense & Pika, in their first major headline performance in London, alongside Benjamin Damage, Tijana T and Dysart is not to be missed.

Called the “most unique act in modern techno” by Mixmag, Dense & Pika have managed to craft a signature sound, which they have delivered to passionate audiences, both big and small. Dense & Pika’s most recent productions such as ‘Lemur’, ‘From Nothing’ and their innumerous remixes, show why they are heralded as one of the very best acts in techno.

This year will see Dense and Pika release their debut album. The pair has revealed that the album will explore the different shades of techno and will include collaborations with artists covering the whole underground music spectrum. “You can test more stuff out in a club environment”, Dense and Pika said in a recent LWE interview. So, prepare yourself for a sneak preview of their album and the evolution of the sound they have become synonymous for.

Much like Dense and Pika, Benjamin Damage plays and produces techno with strong British influences, whilst adding soundscapes to his hardware focused sound. Tijana T arrives in London sandwiched between gigs at Berghain Berlin, Sonar Istanbul and DGTL Amsterdam. Her vividly energetic sets are a sight to behold and we are excited as to what the future holds for this special talent. Finally, Dysart brings heavy techno to the mix, with his music being released on Dense and Pika’s Kneaded Pains label. The line-up is set to satisfy every techno craving in all of us.

LWE returns to East London’s beloved Village Underground for the first time this year. Village Underground is well known for the restored tube carriage that sits on its roof, above an old viaduct, which lends its name to the venue. The inside, paved with brick walls and exposed pipes, is modest yet creates the perfect canvas for stripped back electronic music, as you rave through the night in this intense techno haven.

LWE and Dense and Pika have built an extra special relationship, as we craft events so they can showcase their sound to the max. The duo played an incredible set in the warehouse stage at Junction 2 last year and followed this up with one of the standout performances in the car park at Drumcode Halloween. This night is the next chapter in this story…
